Welcome and thank you for considering volunteering at the Farmers & Makers Markets!

Our markets are Calgary's largest, outdoor Alberta Approved Farmers Markets, and are located at Central Memorial Park in the Beltline, and at Sunalta Community Association. The markets operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays each week from May through October, bringing more than 80 local farm, food maker, and artisan vendors to inner-city community parks. Each market day features live music, free drop in kids Arts & Culture Programming, opportunities to connect with local community and service organizations, and a wonderful market day vibe.

As a registered nonprofit, volunteers are the lifeblood of the Farmers & Makers Markets - we appreciate people giving their personal time to make the markets great, and are so grateful to have you join us!

Market Day Volunteer Opportunities 


Volunteering is a great way to get involved to help develop a more sustainable food system and help create vibrant farmers markets in Calgary! We have a variety of opportunities to volunteer at the Farmers & Makers Markets!

 

What Farmers & Makers Market Volunteers do: 

​

  • Create welcoming atmospheres at the markets

  • Assist market staff with market setup/teardown

  • Assist market staff at our Welcome Booth

  • …and so much more!

Available Shifts Wednesdays and/or Saturdays:

​

  • Set Up/Tear Down 2h/1.25h

  • Welcome Booth 4h

  • Full Day Set-Up, Welcome Booth, Tear Down 7.25h 

  • Market Photographer/Videographer at-market flex

  • Maestro of Signage - 6am-7am (or earlier) Wednesday mornings - must have a vehicle

  • After 15 hours of volunteering receive one-year F&MM Market Membership

  • After 30 hours of volunteering receive F&MM branded T-Shirt, and an invitation to our Year End Team Celebration

 

How to Volunteer

​

Make sure you meet the requirements:

  • Be at least 15 years old

  • Most shifts require walking standing, and lifting/shifting up to 59lbs with a teammate, please let us know if you require one of our  shifts that can accommodate all physical abilities. 

  • Be able to commit to at least 15 hours of shifts over the season
